Governance, and at least double the room.
A builder is anyone who owns an app or has editor or data-editor rights on one. Viewers are free, even on apps that let them add entries — share with as many people as you like.
Appabl is available only in the United States. It is not available in any other country.
Your shared allowances are counted per unit. Every builder seat is one unit, and a usage expansion is one more — $7.50 a month on Pro, $15 on Max — so a popular app gets more room without you paying for a teammate who doesn't exist.
| Allowance | Per unit | This org |
|---|---|---|
| App requests, per day | 5,000 | 25,000 |
| Storage | 1 GB | 5 GB |
| Collections | 5 | 25 |
A Free org is one unit. Usage expansions are bought alongside a paid plan.
Traffic, database operations, storage, collections, connectors, realtime connections, guests and app emails — everything the table below marks as counted per unit. All of it is pooled across your org rather than fixed per app.
Apps and members are already unlimited on every paid plan, and builders are the seats you buy, so there's nothing to expand. Version history, file versions and backups stay per app and rotate — the oldest is pruned to make room for the newest.
Add an expansion from the admin console and the allowance is live immediately, charged the prorated difference. Drop one and you keep the room until your renewal — nothing is taken back mid-cycle.
Going over is never billed. Past a daily allowance, requests are turned away until the counter resets at midnight UTC, and the usage gauges in the console let you see it coming.

1 Counted per unit and shared across your whole org — your cap is the value above multiplied by your units, one per builder seat and one per usage expansion. A Free org has one unit. Storage counts everything you keep: collection documents, stored files, every retained app version, and backups. Version history, file versions and backups are per app and rotate rather than scale — the oldest is pruned to make room for the newest.

The security and governance rows above are the plan-gated half. How we handle your data covers the rest — tenancy, encryption, auditing and reporting a vulnerability.
Anyone who owns an app or holds editor or data-editor rights on one, directly or through a team. Viewers never take a seat — not even on an app that lets them add entries, like a sign-up form or a poll — so a dashboard can go out to the whole company for nothing.
A cheaper add-on for orgs that need more room but not more people: $7.50 a month on Pro, $15 on Max, and it adds a unit of shared allowance without adding a builder. Buy one when an app gets popular rather than paying for a seat nobody will use. “More room, without more people” above has the arithmetic.
Yes. A year costs ten months — two months free — for builders and usage expansions alike. Switching from monthly to yearly applies straight away: a new year starts that day, and the unused part of your month is credited. Going from yearly back to monthly waits for your yearly renewal.
No. It needs no card and runs as long as you like. It's deliberately tight — one app, one builder, three members — so it's the right way to try appabl, not the right way to run a team on it. Until you buy a plan, your org runs at a temporary address and everyone signs in with a code we email them; buying one moves it to the address you picked, and your members set up passkeys.
Requests over the daily allowance are turned away until the counter resets; storage and collection caps block the next write rather than deleting anything. Nothing is billed as overage, and every plan gets a usage view in the admin console so you can see it coming.
Everything your org keeps: collection documents, stored files, app source for every retained version and the draft in progress, and backups. Version history, file versions and backups rotate per app — the oldest is pruned to make room for the newest — so they stay bounded instead of growing forever. The exception is a deleted app's backups: they stay, and count, until you delete them.
Yes, in either direction, from the Plan page in your admin console. Anything that adds — a higher plan, more builders or expansions, or switching to yearly — applies right away, and you're charged the prorated difference. Anything that shrinks — a lower plan, fewer builders or expansions, or switching back to monthly — waits for your renewal, and so does a change that does both, so you keep what you've paid for until then. When a downgrade lands, your apps and data stay, but versions, file versions and backups beyond what the new plan keeps are pruned, and the features your old plan unlocked stop working. File storage is on Pro and up: on Free, files uploaded to your apps are blocked rather than deleted — your apps can't show them, you can still delete them, and subscribing again unblocks them — and we may delete them once the org has been on Free for 30 days. If you're over a limit, you keep what you have but can't add more.
Checkout is sold through Link, operated by Stripe, which adds any sales tax for your address and emails your receipts. Purchases need a US billing address — one made from anywhere else is refunded in full and canceled. Cancel any time from the Plan page or from Link: your plan runs to the end of the period you've paid for, and you can change your mind until then. After that your org moves to Free — invites stop working, Free's limits apply, version and backup history is trimmed to what Free keeps, and files uploaded to your apps are blocked until you subscribe again. If a renewal payment fails, your admins get an email and Stripe retries the payment; only if every retry fails does the org move to Free.
